Welded constructions

Constructions for maritime and offshore applications

We design and manufacture high-quality constructions that meet the stringent requirements of the offshore, maritime, and energy industries. Whether it’s supporting structures, platforms, or specialized components, our skilled professionals excel in delivering exceptional results.

High-quality welding with recognized certificates

Gardec has built up an extensive track record of manufacturing high-quality steel construction components over the years. As a result of this high-quality welding, Gardec was able to obtain ISO 3834-2 certification in 2017. Together with our welding engineers, NDT operators and welding inspectors, our QC department guarantees strict compliance with legal requirements and customer specifications.

Welded constructions, general welding work on ships and manufacturing and installation of products for offshore and onshore use are included in our ISO 3834-2 certificate.

In addition, Gardec has a comprehensive welding database of over 100 Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR’s) in accordance with EN ISO 15614-1 and IACS member requirements (ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV, Rina, etc.) with associated Welding Procedure Specification (WPS’s), covering a range of welding processes, thickness intervals and base materials, including carbon steel (up to and including S690QL1 (-60°C)), aluminum (5083/6082/7020), stainless steel (316), duplex (4462 – S31803/S32205) and dissimilar materials. In many cases, this allows us to save our customers long waiting times and costs for new WPQR’s/WPS’s.

Gardec maintains a permanent team of approximately 35 qualified welders, certified in all major welding processes (111, 135/138, 136, 141) and all welding positions, from small pipe diameters (under 25mm) until unlimited thicknesses.

The production of steel constructions requires strict process control. Our EN 1090 FPC 2+ certification (Factory Production Control) shows that our production processes are carefully controlled. This certificate is crucial for the production of load-bearing steel structures that are used in construction, offshore and infrastructure.

Our certifications are more than a formality—they are a guarantee for you as a customer. With these certificates we assure our customers of quality, reliability and safety. This is not just a promise, but a certainty that is supported by independent audits and controls.

Expertise in large and complex structures

With years of experience in metal constructions and welding techniques, we deliver impressive projects for a wide range of sectors, including offshore, wind energy, and shipbuilding.

Our engineering department provides precise design drawings and calculations for steel structures, including foundation designs and constructions that meet the strictest offshore and maritime standards. Through reverse engineering, we can also restore and reproduce outdated or hard-to-find components.

In recent years, we have built 28-meter pedestals for a wind farm, hull structures for jack-up barges such as the Goliath, a helideck support structure for a jack-up vessel, a 26-meter lifting beam in S690 high-strength steel and more.

At Gardec, we have designed and built lifting mechanisms with a SWL (Safe Working Load) of up to 1200 tons, tailored to meet the most demanding loading and unloading operations.

Gardec also manufactures stainless steel components, primarily serving the maritime food industry and, more specifically fishing vessels.

Aluminum construction: offshore structures, ships, and industry

Gardec operates a dedicated workshop exclusively for aluminum construction and processing. The structures fabricated here range from maritime hull components to industrial and aesthetic architectural elements. Gardec specializes in aluminum vessels, such as patrol boats, boat taxis and crew vessels.

Beyond the maritime sector, the aluminum workshop also produces aesthetic projects for the construction industry, such as building cladding.

Pipe Fitting

Gardec has a dedicated piping department, specializing in welding low-pressure applications with standard flanges as well as high-pressure hydraulic pipelines.
We handle both lighter pipework and heavy-duty pipes for the dredging, gas and oil sectors.

Steel, stainless steel, and CuNiFe (copper-nickel-iron alloys commonly used in marine environments) are among the standard materials processed at Gardec. Highly wear-resistant materials such as Hardox are used, for example in the production of large dredging pipes.

With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and safety, we ensure that every welded construction not only excels technically but also meets the specific needs of our customers. Contact us to learn how we can make your project a success.
